Treatment Programs
For our community, recovery is not a distant concept -- it happens right here on Highland Avenue. IBT Rehab's treatment programs combine clinical precision with the natural beauty of Southern California, offering multiple levels of care tailored to each patient's substance use history, mental health needs, and personal goals.
Medical Detox
Medical detoxification at IBT Rehab is a 3-to-7-day, physician-supervised process designed to safely manage acute withdrawal symptoms while preparing patients for the therapeutic work ahead. Our nursing team monitors vitals around the clock, administering medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols individualized to each substance -- whether alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or stimulants.
Unlike hospital-based detox, our setting feels like a home, not a ward. Patients have access to shared suites, nutritious meals prepared by our kitchen staff, and gentle movement sessions as their body allows. From the first day, our counselors begin building rapport and completing the biopsychosocial assessment that shapes every step of ongoing care.
Residential Treatment
Our 30-to-90-day residential program immerses patients in a structured environment where healing is the full-time priority. Days begin at 6:30 AM with a guided nature walk, followed by outdoor fitness, individual counseling, group therapy, and evidence-based modalities like CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Within our 34-bed facility, patients live in shared suites and have access to the gymnasium, equine therapy barn, greenhouse, and chapel. Family Systems Therapy sessions bring loved ones into the recovery process through scheduled programming at our Family Lodge. Every residential stay concludes with a detailed continuing-care plan developed collaboratively between the patient, their counselor, and family members.
Outpatient Program
IBT Rehab's outpatient program allows National City residents and commuters across San Diego County to receive high-quality addiction treatment while maintaining work, school, or family responsibilities. Sessions run multiple times per week and include individual counseling, group therapy, and music therapy.
Our outpatient track is ideal for patients stepping down from residential care or for those whose clinical assessment indicates a less intensive level of support. The same clinical team manages both residential and outpatient cases, ensuring seamless continuity of care. Patients retain access to outdoor programming, the gymnasium, and alumni peer support groups throughout their outpatient engagement.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
More than half of individuals with a substance use disorder also live with a co-occurring mental health condition -- depression, PTSD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or others. IBT Rehab's dual diagnosis program treats both conditions simultaneously rather than sequentially, because addressing only one leaves the other to drive relapse.
Our clinical director, a psychologist specializing in co-occurring disorders, supervises integrated treatment plans that pair psychiatric medication management with therapeutic modalities like CBT, ACT, and individual counseling. Patients receive comprehensive neuropsychological screening within their first 72 hours and benefit from a coordinated team of psychiatrists, therapists, and addiction counselors who communicate daily about each case.
